Portfolio Sites

Variations

All the elements - the logo, the colours, the number of images etc, can be altered, and a strikingly different look can be achieved by simply making the background much darker. It is possible to put more images on a page as is required, and to have extra pages for different media or different aspects of your work.

There are two main ways of displaying portfolios of artwork on the web, one where clicking on a thumbnail image opens up an enlargement on a new page, and one where this changes an enlargement of the image on the same page, (see the next panel for examples of these). There are advantages and disadvantages for both methods. For the 'same page' type although it looks elegant being on the same page, it can take longer to download if there isn't a great deal of bandwidth. The 'new page' type is quicker to download but there are more pages, one for each picture, and its necessary to keep clicking 'back' or 'previous'.
