Web Sites

Whether you are an artist, a craftsperson, a writer, an academic or a business selling products, displaying your portfolio of work or goods doesn't have to be difficult or expensive.

My name is Mike Fenton and I design and author web-sites for all kinds of creative's - artists, craftspeople, photographers, writers, tutors as well as groups and small businesses. As an artist myself I have a good understanding of the problems that arise when moving into digital media. The whole process is simple and can begin as soon as I have some of your images or words.

  • Affordable
  • You can use your own designs, logos and ideas
  • Help with choosing domain names and hosting packages
  • Updating and remodelling of existing websites
  • Easy to set up via emails

Going Digital

The digital media have made it easier for artists to display their work, but it can be confusing with all the different file formats, resolutions, and seemingly endless jargon. I can photograph your artwork and products for you and give you discs with the different formats, or help you organise your own photographs.

  • confused by jpeg, tiff and gif?
  • photography of your work
  • scanning of photographic slides
  • understanding of artists priorities

Beginning a Website

To make the process easier there's a few things you can think about when you're considering having a website, I've listed some here:

  • Purpose for your site - what do you want the site for (e.g. showcase your work, products, etc)
  • Audience for the site - who do you want to see it e.g. prospective buyers, employers, fellow academics, etc.
  • Domain name for the site - if you've got a common name you might have to think of alternatives other than just your name.
  • Materials for the site - photographs, documents and text for the introduction, biography, other websites or groups you might want to link to, etc.

A website can cost as little as *£120

*this would comprise of one page at £50, plus a years worth of hosting, monthly updates and a domain name at £70, extra pages are charged at £50 per page.
